Salerno
Join us on a walking tour in the historical center of Salerno!
Salernum was founded by the Romans in the 2nd century B. C. but the most important period for the city was the Middle age.
After the destruction of the Roman Empire in Italy the Lombards created a dukedom in Campania and Salerno became its capital.
In this time Salerno was one of the most important cities of the Mediterrenean sea. Here the first Medical School was round around the end of the 9th century A.D.
We will go the discovery of the history and the architecture of the medieval time with a visit of the amazing Cathedral of Saint Matthew, an example of Arab-Norman architecture, and also its crypt, completely redecorated during the XVII century and now considered a jewelry of the Baroque style.
We will be happy to give you some tips about local food and where to go to drink a beer in authentic places.
Use the time with us if you need advice or to ask questions about the entire region and the other beautiful sites you may want to visit.
